Viaje a Segovia y Ávila:
Una de las cosas que yo siempre quería hacer con mi tiempo aquí en España era visitar otras cuidades cercanos de Salamanca, y ver lugares que antes no pensaba irme. Afortunadamente, mis compañeros de clase también querían ir a visitar Segovia y Ávila con nuestro tiempo libre, entonces fuimos un fin de semana a ver ambos lugares. El tiempo aquí está bastante fresco ahora, pero el finde que viajamos había mucho sol, y combinado con la atmosfera linda de diciembre – ¡lo pasamos genial!
Segovia y Ávila son relativamente cerca de Salamanca, en la misma región de Castilla y León, y nuestra primera destinación era Ávila. Esta cuidad es famosa para sus murallas medievales magnificas, y las murallas son totalmente intactas hasta el día de hoy. Subimos las murallas y caminamos mucho pero el sol era tan fuerte que después tuvimos que parar para unas tapas en un bar cercano (y para una sangría también). Ávila es una ciudad pequeña pero hermosa, y fuimos a un mirador para ver Ávila desde lejos – esta vista de la ciudad con las murallas era preciosa.
Después fuimos a Segovia, una ciudad cerca de la sierra de Guadarrama, que es parte del ‘Sistema Central´, la cordillera que divida la península Ibérica. Esta cordillera tiene montañas muy altas, hasta los 2400 metros. Segovia es una ciudad muy bonita, y hay un acueducto enorme arriba del centro de la ciudad. El acueducto data de la época romana y servía para aprovisionar a la ciudad con agua de la sierra. ¡Además, el acueducto era un buen lugar para tomar fotos juntos con mis amigos del curso!
También hay un castillo impresionante en Segovia que se llama el Alcázar, que fue construido en el siglo XII por los reyes de Castilla. En mi opinión, el castillo pareció casi como un castillo de una película de Disney a primera vista ¡Resulta que Walt Disney se inspiró de este castillo para la primera película de Cinderella! El Alcázar de Segovia también tiene muchas similitudes con el castillo en la primera película de ‘Blanca Nieves y los siete enanos’, que se estrenó en 1937.
Trip to Segovia and Ávila:
One of the things that I always wanted to do with my time here in Spain was to visit other cities near Salamanca, and to see places that I didn’t think of going to before. Fortunately, my classmates also wanted to go to Segovia and Ávila during our free time, so one weekend we went to see both places. The weather here is pretty cold now, but the weekend we travelled there was a lot of sunshine, and combined with the nice December atmosphere, we had a great time!
Segovia and Ávila are relatively close to Salamanca, in the same region of Castilla y León, and our first destination was Ávila. The city is famous for its magnificent medieval walls, and the ramparts are fully intact to this day. We climbed the walls and walked a lot, but the sun was so strong that afterwards we had to stop for tapas in a nearby bar (and for some sangria too). Ávila is a small but beautiful city, and we went to a viewpoint to see Avila from afar – this view of the city with the walls was beautiful.
Then we went to Segovia, a city near the Guadarrama mountain range, which is part of the ‘Sistema Central’, the mountain range that divides the Iberian Peninsula. This mountain range has very high mountains, up to 2400 meters. Segovia is a lovely city, and there is a huge aqueduct above the city centre. The aqueduct was built during Roman times and served to supply the city with water from the mountains. Also, the aqueduct was a great place to take pictures together with my friends!
There is also an impressive castle in Segovia called the Alcázar, which was built in the 12th century by the kings of Castile. In my opinion, the castle looked almost like a castle from a Disney movie at first glance. It turns out that Walt Disney was in fact inspired by this castle for his first Cinderella film! The Alcazar of Segovia also has many similarities to the castle in the first film of ‘Snow White and the Seven Dwarves’, which was released in 1937.
