Este último mes he tenido algunos visitantes del Reino Unido. Pude inspirar a mis amigos a probar y aprender un nuevo idioma, ya que vieron la diferencia al saber que un idioma puede hacer. Vieron cómo se ampliaron mis opciones de películas, así como programas de televisión, música y libros, y cómo pude reírme de videos divertidos en línea en varios idiomas. La ventaja más importante es mi capacidad de comunicarme fácilmente con todos aquí en Medellín. Puedo tener muchas amistades con personas que no podría si no hablara español. Pedir comida en español en un restaurante fue suficiente para que mis amigos sintieran envidia y convencerlos de que aprendieran un idioma diferente.
Los idiomas no están tan presionados en las escuelas de inglés como lo están en lugares extranjeros. Creo que es una pena, ya que siento que todo mi mundo se ha expandido desde que aprendí idiomas. Me siento orgulloso cuando visito países que hablan español y puedo intentar comunicarme adecuadamente con ellos en lugar de depender de su habilidad para hablar inglés. Creo que esto me ha ayudado mientras estuve aquí para evitar recibir precios

Creo que lo que mejoró este mes son mis habilidades de comunicación cuando hablo sobre el futuro, ya que es algo que mucha gente ha estado preguntando ya que en esta época del año la mayoría de la gente está haciendo planes por adelantado para pasar tiempo con la familia en Navidad y Año nuevo.
This last month I have had a few visitors from the UK. I was able to inspire my friends to try and learn a new language as they saw the difference knowing a language can make. They saw how my film options were expanded as well as tv programmes, music and books and how I was able to laugh at funny videos online in various languages. The most important advantage is my ability to communicate easily with everyone here in Medellin. I am able to have many friendships with people who I would not be able to if I did not speak Spanish. Ordering food in Spanish in a restaurant was enough to make my friends envious and convince them to learn a different language.
Languages aren’t as pressured in English schools as they are in foreign places. I think this is a shame as I feel like my whole world has been expanded since learning languages. I can feel proud when I visit countries that speak Spanish that I am able to make an attempt to communicate properly with them rather than relying on their ability to speak english. I think this has helped me whilst I have been here to avoid receiving ridiculously increased prices and negative attitudes.
