In diesem Monat hat die Weltmeisterschaft unbedingt am größten Thema gewesen. WM-Fieber hat die ganze Welt übernommen und Deutschland ist kein anders, mit stadtweit Public Viewings z.B. in dem Stadtzentrum und in den Restaurants. Deshalb, sind wir fast jeden Tag zum Einkaufzentrum gegangen, um die Spiele zu schauen. Hier gab es eine große Leinwand und Tribünen, wo man sitzen konnte. Man durfte auch Alkohol mitbringen, also war es viel günstiger als im Bar zu schauen. Das Einkaufzentrum hat auch eine viel bessere Atmosphäre gehabt, weil mehr Fußballfreunde dasitzen können, die aus fast jedes Land kommen. Da Jena so vielfältig ist, hat fast jedes Land vertreten gewesen. Ich habe auch eine einmalige Erfahrung erlebt: England gewinnt ein Elfmeterschießen. Erstaunlich!
Leider, haben viele Deutscher Interesse verloren, als Deutschland von Sud-Korea ausgeschieden worden ist, nur in den Gruppephasen bei der WM, die viele Leute überrascht hat, weil Deutschland nur vor 4 Jahren das Turnier gewonnen hat, um der Weltmeister zu werden. Gleichzeitig, hat das mir gefällt und ärgert, weil einerseits Deutschaland verliert hat, deshalb würde England eine bessere Chance zu gewinnen haben, denn sie nie treffen werden. Andererseits ist der Stadt gedrückt geworden. Das meint, dass kaum jemand die Spiele schauen wollen also bis das WM Endspiel sind die Tribünen fast leer. Meistens wollte Frankreich zu gewinnen, einschließlich Engländer und das Ergebnis hat uns wirklich gut gefallen. Es schien wie viele das Gleich gefühlt haben, als Frankreich 4 – 2 gegen Kroatien gewonnen hat.
Jetzt ist die WM fertig und leider müssen wir bis nächste Zeit warten. Was passieren wird, kann niemand wissen, aber können wir immer Hoffnung haben, dass England nochmal Weltmeister wird.

The biggest topic this month has definitely been the World Cup. World Cup fever has taken over the whole world and Germany is no different, with public viewings across the city, e.g. in the city centre and restaurants. Therefore, almost every day we went to the shopping centre to watch the matches. Here there was a big screen and stands for people to sit down. You were also allowed to bring your own alcohol with you, so it was much cheaper than watching it at the bar. The shopping centre also had a much better atmosphere because more football fans can sit there, who come from almost every country. As Jena is so diverse almost every single one was represented. I also got to witness a once in a lifetime experience: England winning a penalty shootout. Astounding!
Unfortunately, many Germans lost interest when Germany was knocked out by South-Korea in just the group stages of the World Cup, which surprised a lot of people as just 4 years ago Germany had won the tournament to become World Champions. That simultaneously pleased and annoyed me as because on the one hand Germany had lost so England would have a better chance of winning as they would never meet. On the other hand, the city became depressed. This meant that hardly anyone wanted to watch the matches, so the stands were almost empty until the final. Most people, including the English, wanted France to win and we were all pleased with the result. It seemed like others felt the same way, when France won 4-2 against Croatia.
The World Cup is now over and unfortunately, we must wait until next time. What will happen, no one knows but we can always have hope that England will once again become World Champions.
