2月に彼女と一緒に日光へ行きました。
日光は栃木県にあり、東京の北の方にあります。特急電車で約2時間かかりました。東武線を利用しました。古い電車だったが、席が広くて新しそうな感じがあって過ごしやすかったです。
その時、雪がまだ降っていて、気温は2度くらいだったので、結構寒かったです。着いた時は思ったより街が小さかった。でも遠くに山々が見えたため、自然の中にいるように感じました。
中禅寺湖と滝を見に行く予定でしたが、出発しようとした時、彼女がアイスランドで買った特別な帽子を失くしたことに気づきました。駅員に尋ねるために、駅に戻りました。20分経っていたので、電車はもう出発してしまいました。しかし、ここは日本。もう紙袋に入れて落とし物として保管されていました！運が良かった
ですね（笑）。
動かないほど混んでいたバスに乗っていたので、道中ずっと立ったままでした。標高1000メートル登って地点に到達しました。イギリスの一番高い山より高い地点でした！この地域では数年前にG7サミットも開催されました。
中禅寺湖は息を飲むほど美しい青色の色合いで、湖のそばにある火山もありました。この湖は数千年前、火山噴火によって形成されました。しかし、強風のために手の感覚がなくなるほど寒かったです。
温まるために、近くの温泉に行きました。ホテルの中にあり、露天風呂もありました。しかし、露天風呂に入った時、急に近くの道から裸の自分が見えてしまうことに気づきました。それは日本ならではの経験ですね
次に、華厳滝を見に行きました。滝は完全に凍っていて、その劇的な美しさが際立っていました。
授業を休むことができてよかった。宿題が多くて難しくなってきた。でも、これからも頑張り続けます！来月のレポートまで！
In February, I went to Nikko with my girlfriend. Nikko is located in Tochigi Prefecture, about two hours north of Tokyo on a rapid train. We took the Tobu Line, which used an old train, but the spacious seats were very nice and felt new.
At that time, it was still snowing, and the temperature was around 2°C, so it was quite cold. When we first arrived, I found the city smaller than expected, but the view of the mountains in the distance made me feel connected to nature.

We had planned to visit Lake Chūzenji and see a massive waterfall, but just as we were about to leave, I realized that I had lost my girlfriend’s hat—a special one she had bought in Iceland! We rushed back to the station to ask the staff. By then, 20 minutes had already passed, and the train had already left. But this is Japan—they had already placed it in a paper bag as lost property! I was lucky, haha.

We took a packed bus, so full that we had to stand the entire way. As we climbed 1,000 meters in elevation, we reached a point even higher than the tallest mountain in England. This area had even hosted a G7 summit a few years ago.
Lake Chūzenji was a breathtaking shade of blue, with a volcano sitting on its edge. The lake was actually formed thousands of years ago by a volcanic eruption. However, with the strong winds, it was absolutely freezing! To warm up, we went to an onsen (hot spring) nearby. It was located inside a hotel and had an outdoor bath, but when I stepped outside, I suddenly realized… I could be seen naked from the road opposite! Definitely an experience that would only make sense in Japan.
After that, we visited Kegon Falls, which was completely frozen over, adding to its dramatic beauty. It was nice to take a break from class, which has been getting tough with all the homework. But we just have to keep pushing forward!
