Eve Duffy: мой второй месяц в Даугавпилсе/ My second month in Daugavpils – March 2026 AWAITING MTR

Мой второй месяц в Даугавпилсе почти закончился и у меня было много новых, уникальных и интересных впечатлений. Я многому научилась, провела много времени со своей принимающей семьей и конечно много говорила по-русски. Моя любимая часть этого месяца – экскурсия в Таллинн, организованная языковой школой. В прошлую пятницу мы отправились на автобусе в Таллинн. Поездка была очень долгой, потому что Таллинн расположен в 500 километров от Даугавпилса. По дороге мы играли в карты и пообщались в задней части автобуса.
Днём мы остановились в Лигатне, чтобы посетить советский бункер, в котором есть много разных комнат с выставками внутри. Наш гид объяснил на русском языке историю бункера. – бункер был построен во время холодной войны, когда Советский Союз опасался ядерного нападения. Вечером мы приехали в Таллин и погуляли по старому городу. Меня удивило, как много русской речи я услышала в городе. В ресторане мы поговорили с официанткой по-русски и попросили посоветовать что-нибудь на следующий день. В субботу мы посетили морской музей, где мы узнали много нового об истории Эстонии. Для меня один интересный аспект этого музей является главным залом с множеством старых лодок. Мы даже побывали внутри старой эстонской подводной лодки и увидели, как живут на борту члены экипажа. Во второй половине дня мы продолжили осмотр старого города и полюбовались прекрасной архитектурой Таллина. Эта экскурсия стала моей первой поездкой в Таллин, и я определенно надеюсь вернуться. Погода была прекрасная и солнечная, и после шести недель латвийской зимы было приятно просто посидеть на городской площади, наслаждаясь солнцем. В эти выходные мы снова едем в Вильнюс, и мне не терпится сравнить эти два города.

My second month in Daugavpils is almost over, and I have had so many new interesting and unique experiences. I have learned a lot, spent lots of time with my host family and of course spoken lots of Russian. My favourite part of this month was the excursion to Tallin, organised by the language school. Last Friday we set off on the bus to Tallin. The journey was very long as Tallin is located 500 kilometres away from Daugavpils. On the way we played card games and chatted at the back of the bus. During the day we took a pit stop in Līgatne in order to visit a soviet bunker in which there were many different rooms with exhibitions inside. Our guide explained in Russian the history of the bunker – the bunker was built during the cold war when the soviet union was scared of nuclear attack. In the evening we arrived in Tallin and walked around the old town. It was surprising to me how much Russian I heard in the city. In the restaurant we talked with the waitress in Russian and asked for recommendations for the following day. On Saturday we visited the maritime museum where we learnt lots about the history of Estonia. For me one of the most interesting aspects of this museum was the main hall in which you could see many old boats. We even went inside an old Estonian submarine and saw what it was like for the crew living on board. In the afternoon we explored more of the old town and saw the beautiful architecture in Tallin. This excursion was my first time seeing Tallin and I definitely hope to return. The weather was great and sunny and after six weeks of experiencing Latvian winter it was nice to just sit in the town square enjoying the sunshine. We are going on another excursion this weekend but this time to Vilnius, and I can’t wait to see how the two cities compare.
