Ben Kittoe: Carnival in Rio de Janeiro! (February 2026)
Olá, pessoal! Tudo bem com vocês? Eu acabei de passar meu segundo mês aqui no Rio de Janeiro e estou muito animado pra contar tudo! Como sempre, eu vou focar especificamente na cultura, na vida em casa e, claro, no meu trabalho!
A CULTURA:
Em geral, eu me sinto mais acostumado à cultura brasileira. Tentei aproveitar a praia, o sol e a comida! De fato, estou escrevendo num momento de muita cultura aqui no Brasil, porque é a semana do Carnaval! Só começou ontem, então vou compartilhar todos os detalhes no meu relatório do mês que vem, mas meu plano é ir a muitos blocos (festas de rua) e aproveitar dessa opportunidade!
A VIDA EM CASA:
Em casa, estou ficando mais fluente nos jeitos de me comunicar e viver. Estou gostando muito das conversas e dos nossos momentos juntos. Este mês, a gente foi a uma festa de aniversário com um grupo de jazz! Foi muito legal.
TRABALHO:
No meu trabalho, eu acabei de terminar todo o meu treinamento. Aqui no Brasil, falam que “o ano só começa depois do Carnaval”! Então, estou feliz em dizer que vou começar o ano com confiança! Estou gostando muito do meu trabalho numa gravadora de música eletrônica e, no fim de semana que vem, vou a um show de um dos artistas com quem trabalho! Vai ser no Museu do Amanhã, no Rio de Janeiro, como parte das celebrações de Carnaval. Vai ser ótimo ver tudo com que estou trabalhando na vida real!
E é isso! Em geral, neste mês a vida brasileira tem parecido mais “normal”, e estou gostando muito. Meu português também está soando mais fluente, e estou começando a usar mais gírias e frases naturais. Agora, estou muito animado pro Carnaval e pra “começar o ano” de verdade! Até logo, tchau!
Hey guys! How are you all? I’ve just had my second month here in Rio de Janeiro and I’m really excited to tell you everything about it! As always, I’m going to focus specifically on culture, life at home and, of course, my work!
CULTURE:
In general, I feel more accustomed to Brazilian culture. I’ve tried to enjoy the beach, the sun and the food! In fact, I’m currently writing at a moment of huge culture here in Brazil, because it’s Carnival week! It only started yesterday, so I’ll share all the details in my report next month, but my plan is to go to lots of street ‘blocos’ (street parties) and to make the most of this opportunity!
LIFE AT HOME:
At home, I’m becoming more fluent, both in the ways of communicating and living. I’m really enjoying the conversations and our moments together. This month, we went to a birthday party with a jazz group! It was great.
WORK:
At work, I’ve just finished all my training. Here in Brazil, people say that “the year only starts after Carnival”! So, I’m happy to say that I’m going to start this year with confidence! I’m really enjoying my job at an electronic music record label and, next weekend, I’m going to a show by one of the artists I work with! It’s going to be at the Museum of Tomorrow in Rio de Janeiro, as part of the Carnival celebrations. It’ll be amazing to see everything I’ve been working on in real life!
And that’s it! Overall, this month Brazilian life has felt more “normal”, and I’m really enjoying it. My Portuguese is also sounding more fluent, and I’m starting to use more slang and natural phrases. Now, I’m very excited for Carnival and to “start the year” properly! Until the next one, bye!
